Disney Branded Television expands ‘Descendants’ franchise with fifth movie.

Branded Television has officially announced the next chapter in the beloved Descendants movie franchise. It is working on producing a fifth installment set to begin soon for Disney Channel and Disney+. The newly greenlit Disney Channel Original Movie will continue the music-and-dance-fueled adventures of the teenage progeny of Disney’s most iconic characters and villains.
Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker will reprise their roles as Princess Red and Chloe, the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella daughters, respectively. The official title of the film will be announced at a later date.

Following the events of the 2024 hit film Descendants: The Rise of Red, the upcoming sequel explores the aftermath of Red and Chloe’s time-traveling journey. It is set primarily in present-day Wonderland. The film delves into the warning from the previous installment: “There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.”
In addition to Cantrall and Baker, Leonardo Nam returns as Maddox Hatter. New cast members are joining the franchise. It includes Liamani Segura as Red’s sister, Pink; Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter; Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal; and Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook. Additional casting is ongoing.

Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-Sitters Club, Girls5eva) is set to direct. The script was penned by co-executive producers Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella), Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer (The Rise of Red).
Fans eager to revisit the Descendants universe can find Descendants: The Rise of Red streaming now on Disney+. Also available are the first three Descendants films, the animated spinoff series Descendants: Wicked World, the animated special Descendants: The Royal Wedding, and several Descendants-inspired music videos.
