Downton Abbey is returning to the silver screen with a new installment.
Focus Features and Carnival Films are set to return to the world of “Downton Abbey” with a third feature film. The announcement has sent waves of excitement through the beloved franchise’s fanbase. The upcoming movie, set in the 1930s, promises to reunite fans with their favorite characters while introducing some new faces. The new cast additions are Paul Giamatti, Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan. Dominic West will also return, reprising his role as Guy Dexter from “Downton Abbey: A New Era.” The film will follow the Crawley family and their loyal servants navigating new challenges and opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
Paul Giamatti will reprise his role as Harold Levinson, Cora Grantham’s brother.
Giamatti joins the cast following his Oscar-nominated performance in Alexander Payne’s acclaimed comedy, “The Holdovers.” Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan are set to bring fresh energy to the franchise. Richardson will play a mysterious new arrival at Downton, Nivola will portray a charismatic politician, Beale will take on the role of a renowned artist, and Froushan will embody a young servant with a secret past.
Simon Curtis, who directed the previous film in the series, is returning.
Downton Abbey’s creator and Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes penned the script. The core cast members, including Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, and many others, are set to return.
