Dragon Ball Super – Chapter 90 Recap

Dragon Ball Super latest chapter is titled “Vs. Dr. Hedo”.

The Super Hero Saga’s first arc in Dragon Ball Super ends as Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 thwart Dr. Hedo’s grave-robbing, corpse-reanimating plans with Officer Krillin’s help. Again, Goten takes center stage for much of the issue. We finally see some of his friends, including a girl named Fyler, who has a crush on Trunks, and a clarification of why Goten goes to the same school as Trunks despite living so far away. It’s refreshing to see the spotlight shift to an often-overlooked character. And Goten is one of many supporting characters given some much-needed focus. Even Krillin has some heroic moments in this chapter.

In a scene that feels lifted from Wednesday, Mai accompanies Trunks to a school dance in an armored dress. Dr. Hedo crashes the dance for an opportunity to meet famous hero Cleangod, prompting Mai to take a shot at the diminutive villain. Hedo escapes, with Krillin and the boys in aerial pursuit.

When the trio arrives at his secret lair, Dr. Hedo unleashes the “Dinodroid,” a less intelligent but far stronger android than the Alpha or Beta series. The monster pins Goten and Trunks until Krillin uses his famous Destructo Disc to disable the power switch on its back. Then, the two teenage boys go Super Saiyan and knock it back before Trunks destroys it.

Later, while standing in his jail cell, Dr. Hedo vows to build the ultimate android. Of course, we all know this foreshadows Cell Max and the Gamma androids. It’s great that we finally saw more of Goten’s side of the story since the last two issues have focused mostly on Trunks. Sadly, this is most likely the last chapter at the boys’ high school.
