Currently, he plays the role of Herbert “Magic” Williams in the revival of the NBC drama “Quantum Leap.” In the series, Magic is the head of the Quantum Leap project. He is responsible for managing his team while also answering to higher-ups at the Pentagon. In the “Quantum Leap” revival, viewers are taken almost thirty years into the future. This is where a physicist named Ben Song, played by Raymond Lee, becomes the new protagonist leading the project’s revival. However, things take an unexpected turn when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leading to a series of events that test the team’s ability to handle the situation. At the center of the operation is Magic Williams, played by Hudson, a seasoned military figure who oversees the covert endeavor. Along with Magic, Addison, played by Caitlin Bassett, serves as Ben’s unwavering companion, guiding him through his journey through time.

The revival of the series explores the themes of redemption and second chances.

These themes are reminiscent of the original show’s timeless appeal. The protagonist, Ben, jumps from one life to another to correct past mistakes, while the team works against the clock to unravel the enigma behind his leaps and ensure his safe return. Hudson has a diverse career that goes beyond television. He will be reprising his role once again as Winston Zeddemore in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire“. He also recently co-starred with Woody Harrelson in the Bobby Farrelly-directed film “Champions.” Regarding TV, Hudson displays his versatility by starring in and executive producing two shows: BET’s “The Family Business” and Showtime’s “City on a Hill.” He also appears in the Catherine Hardwicke film “Prisoner’s Daughter” and the award-winning Netflix series “Grace and Frankie.”

As the second season of “Quantum Leap” comes to a close tonight, Ernie Hudson’s portrayal of Herbert “Magic” Williams adds depth to the already impressive cast.
