Fantastic Fest 2024 Lineup Unveiled: ‘Terrifier 3,’ ‘Apartment 7A,’ and More Exciting Premieres

Fantastic Fest, Alamo Drafthouse’s famous genre film festival, returns to Austin, TX, for its 19th iteration at its South Lamar location from September 19th to 26th. The festival will feature 28 World Premieres, 23 International and North American Premieres, and 15 U.S. Premieres.

The opening night film will be ‘The Rule of Jenny Pen’ from director James Ashcroft, which stars Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow. In addition, the festival’s opening night gala will feature Alexandre Aja’s new horror thriller, ‘Never Let Go,’ starring Halle Berry. Aja and Berry will be in attendance to premiere the film. Capping off opening night will be the return of Art the Clown in ‘Terrifier 3.’

A special showing of Netflix’s documentary ‘Will & Harper’ will be shown at the festival. Will Ferrell, Harper Steele and director Josh Greenbaum will be in attendance. The closing film will be the premiere of Hulu’s slasher ‘Mr. Crocket’ based on the popular short.

Netflix, Hulu, and A24 lead the charge with must-see films and series.

Additional films include NEON’s Palme d’Or winner Anora, MUBI’s Bring Them Down, V/H/S/Beyond, Rosemary’s Baby’s prequel Apartment 7A, Dead Talent’s Society, DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot, A24’s A Different Man, and more. Also, Critical Role and Prime Video’s The Legend of Vox Machina’ Season 3 and Peacock’s Teacup will have series premieres.

“The Fantastic Fest team is absolutely elated about this year’s festival,” said festival director Lisa Dreyer in a press release. “We can’t wait to share the very best new films from around the world and enjoy our sensational events together this September.” Director Nacho Vigalondo will be presented with a special award for his contributions to genre film. Vigalondo’s latest film, ‘Daniela Forever’ will be screened at the festival, followed by a conversation with Vigalondo.

Along with the movies, several Fantastic Fest events will take place, including the inaugural Fantastic Games event, Fantastic Feud, the Fantastic Debates, and an epic Closing Night Party featuring the 999 Eyes Freakshow.
