Fede Alvarez, the guy behind “Evil Dead” and “Don’t Breathe,” directed “Alien: Romulus” from a screenplay he co-wrote with his buddy Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”). The movie is based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Ridley Scott, who directed the original “Alien” and the films “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” produced this one.

The franchise started with Ridley Scott’s “Alien” in 1979.
It changed sci-fi and horror movies. The movie tells the story of the Nostromo spaceship crew meeting a dangerous alien. People loved it, and the xenomorph became a famous movie monster. “Alien” did so well that they made more movies. “Aliens” (1986) by James Cameron changed things with more action and brought back Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley. Later movies like “Alien 3” (1992) and “Alien: Resurrection” (1997) kept up the scary encounters between humans and xenomorphs and added new stuff to the story.
In the 2000s, the franchise started expanding with a prequel series that kicked off with “Prometheus” (2012) and was followed by “Alien: Covenant” (2017). These movies, directed by Scott, delved into the origins of the xenomorphs and the engineers who created them, adding a deeper philosophical dimension to the saga.
“Alien: Romulus” is returning to the franchise’s horror roots, focusing on the suspense and terror that made the original film a classic. It is set to stand out in the summer movie season, offering a terrifying journey into the unknown.
