Terrifying new chapter begins in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Freddy and the gang are back, and this time, they’re not confined to the pizzeria. Blumhouse has released the official trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2023 horror hit that became the year’s highest-grossing horror film. Directed again by Emma Tammi, the film picks up one year after the nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Read our review of the first film here.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Story So Far

Former security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) are doing their best to keep the supernatural truth from Mike’s young sister, Abby (Piper Rubio). But the past is hard to bury.

As their town transforms the tragedy into a campy local celebration called “Fazfest,” Abby sneaks off to reunite with her old animatronic friends—Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Her decision sets off a chain reaction that uncovers dark secrets behind the origins of Freddy’s and unleashes a horror hidden away for decades.

Returning Favorites and New Faces

The sequel sees the return of Theodus Crane as Jeremiah and Matthew Lillard as William Afton. Joining the cast are Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone), Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park, Seinfeld), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), and Skeet Ulrich (Scream, Riverdale).

Familiar Team Behind the Camera

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is directed by Emma Tammi and written by game creator Scott Cawthon. Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum once again produces alongside Cawthon. Executive producers include Tammi, Beatriz Sequeira, Christopher Warner, Russell Binder, and Marc Mostman.

A Box Office Phenomenon Continues

The original Five Nights at Freddy’s debuted in October 2023 to a record-setting $80 million opening weekend and went on to gross nearly $300 million worldwide. With deeper lore, more animatronic chaos, and fan-favorite characters returning, the sequel looks to deliver another chilling hit for Blumhouse.
