Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan for Freakier Friday.

The first trailer for Freakier Friday has officially dropped, and it’s bringing the body-swap chaos back to the big screen. Reuniting Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, the film serves as the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s 2003 hit Freaky Friday. It is set to premiere exclusively in theaters on August 8, 2025.
A New Generation, A Familiar Switch
Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the sequel picks up years after the original story. Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) have moved on from their life-changing identity crisis, but the universe isn’t done with them just yet. Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, and when the pressures of blending families begin to mount, history seems destined to repeat itself.

The trailer teases a new twist on the iconic body-swap formula, with lightning once again striking—literally and figuratively. The generational challenges are even more complex this time, as the family must navigate change, empathy, and unexpected perspective shifts.
Star-Studded Ensemble Joins the Freakier Friday Chaos
In addition to Curtis and Lohan, Freakier Friday boasts an impressive supporting cast. It includes Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Vanessa Bayer, and Mark Harmon.

Produced by Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, and Curtis herself, the sequel is once again based on Mary Rodgers’s book Freaky Friday. Executive producers include Nathan Kelly, Ann Marie Sanderlin, and Lindsay Lohan.
Whether you’re a fan of the original film or brand new to the Colemans’ wild world, Freakier Friday promises to blend nostalgia, heartfelt moments, and Disney magic for a new generation.
