Everyone’s favorite lasagna-loving feline, Garfield, is back for a fur-tastic adventure. The beloved orange tabby again hits the big screen in an all-new animated feature. It is set to premiere in theaters on May 24th. Voiced by Super Mario Movie’s Chris Pratt, Garfield is joined by an all-star cast, including Samuel L. Jackson as his street-smart father, Vic. For decades, he has been a staple in popular culture.
He won the hearts of audiences worldwide with his witty quips, disdain for Mondays, and insatiable appetite for lasagna. Created by cartoonist Jim Davis in 1978, the comic strip quickly became a phenomenon, syndicated in newspapers around the globe and spawning a vast array of merchandise. Garfield’s popularity soared even higher with the launch of various animated television series, where fans could follow the misadventures of the lazy yet lovable cat and his companions, including his loyal canine sidekick Odie. However, one of the most notable adaptations of Garfield was the live-action/CGI film released in 2004. It starred Bill Murray as the titular character’s voice.
He is back on the big screen in a fully animated feature.
It promises to deliver laughs and excitement for fans of all ages. In this new adventure, Garfield finds himself reunited with his long-lost father, Vic, voiced by the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. But their reunion is anything but ordinary, as Garfield and his faithful friend Odie are thrust into a whirlwind of chaos and comedy when they are roped into a high-stakes heist orchestrated by Vic.
Joining Pratt and Jackson are Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang. Director Mark Dindal is known for his work on Disney’s “The Emperor’s New Groove.” This new Garfield movie promises to capture the essence of the beloved comic strip while introducing audiences to an exciting new adventure that will leave them rolling in the aisles with laughter.
