George Clooney and Brad Pitt Shine in Jon Watts’ Thrilling ‘Wolfs’ – Review

Wolfs is a surprising action comedy that keeps you hooked.

In Wolfs, director Jon Watts, known for his Spider-Man films, delivers a thrilling action-comedy featuring Ocean Eleven‘s George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who are at the top of their game. This Apple TV release is now streaming and is a delightful surprise, showcasing the dynamic duo as rival fixers navigating a chaotic, high-stakes night that spirals out of control. With its sharp writing, impressive cinematography, and solid performances, Wolfs is the perfect movie for a cozy couch night in.

One of the film’s standout qualities is its tone.

While Wolfs leans into a mostly serious atmosphere, the wit woven throughout never feels out of place. Rather than relying on slapstick humor, the film smartly keeps the dialogue sharp and clever, creating moments of levity that fit seamlessly into the action. This balance gives the movie a refreshing edge, setting it apart from more traditional action comedies. Clooney and Pitt, known for their comedic timing, manage to maintain a serious tone while still delivering subtle, dry humor that adds to the charm.

The story is full of surprising twists and turns that keep the audience engaged without ever becoming convoluted. The plot is easy to follow but consistently throws in unexpected developments, keeping the stakes high and the tension palpable. Despite the high-octane action, the pacing feels natural, allowing room for quieter, more character-driven moments that deepen the audience’s connection to the leads.

As expected, Clooney and Pitt bring their A-game to Wolfs. They never break character, maintaining the intensity and wit of their respective roles throughout the film. Their chemistry is electric, and the back-and-forth banter between them makes their team-up one of the most enjoyable aspects of the movie. Clooney’s calm, calculated fixer contrasts perfectly with Pitt’s more impulsive and brash approach, creating a fun dynamic that plays out beautifully on screen.

The cinematography is also a highlight. Watts utilizes sleek, stylish visuals to enhance the action sequences, making each scene both fun and visually striking. The action itself is well-choreographed, offering plenty of memorable moments without feeling overdone.

Verdict

I give Wolfs 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is an engaging, well-crafted film that’s sure to entertain. Clooney and Pitt’s magnetic performances, combined with the film’s witty dialogue, solid story, and stunning visuals, make this an enjoyable watch. It’s a fun, surprising gem from Jon Watts.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
