Good Fortune has a heavenly premise with a hilarious cast.
Aziz Ansari is stepping behind the camera in a big way with Good Fortune. His feature directorial debut has finally just dropped a first-look teaser. The upcoming comedy, which Ansari also wrote, marks his return to filmmaking with an impressive ensemble cast. It features a high-concept premise full of heart and humor.
The film stars Ansari as a struggling gig worker whose life takes a surreal turn thanks to a meddling angel named Gabriel, played by Keanu Reeves. Seth Rogen co-stars as a wealthy venture capitalist whose fate becomes entangled with Ansari’s character, setting the stage for a collision of worlds. Also featured in the film are Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and a supporting cast that promises comedic and emotional punch.
Good Fortune is produced by Ansari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang—his longtime collaborator from Master of None.
The teaser offers a glimpse into the quirky chaos that ensues when celestial interference meets real-world problems. Reeves sports an angelic look that’s more “laid-back guardian” than “heavenly choirboy.”
The film marks Ansari’s return to the screen following his recent stand-up work and acclaimed TV projects. With a sharp script, surreal concept, and powerhouse cast, Good Fortune is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated comedies of the year.
Good Fortune is expected to hit theaters on October 16th.
