Goosebumps: The Vanishing” Brings Fresh Thrills and to the iconic R.L Stine Franchise.

A chilling new season of “Goosebumps” has arrived, and fans of the iconic franchise are in for a treat. Titled “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” the second season of the reimagined series is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. Featuring an all-star cast and a gripping story, it promises to deliver thrills, chills, and nostalgia for viewers old and new.

Set in Gravesend, Brooklyn, Goosebumps: The Vanishing follows twins Cece and Devin Brewer, played by Jayden Bartels and Sam McCarthy, as they spend a summer with their divorced dad. They soon uncover dark secrets lurking in their neighborhood, leading to a mystery tied to the disappearance of four teenagers in 1994. The cast includes David Schwimmer as Anthony, the twins’ father, and Ana Ortiz as their mother, Jen, and a talented ensemble portraying their friends and allies.

Bartels and McCarthy shared their thoughts on being part of the iconic franchise.

“It feels great. It’s an honor,” Bartels said when asked about bringing a fresh spin to the Goosebumps series. “We’re from this younger, new generation, and it’s cool to make a show that I’d want to watch, while also paying homage to the original.”

McCarthy’s connection to the franchise runs deep. “My mother narrated the audiobook for Night of the Living Dummy when I was a kid, so that was my introduction,” he revealed. “I became a real fan while making this series and diving into how cool this universe is.”

Filming took place in the heart of New York City, adding a layer of authenticity to the atmospheric sets. “Most of it was real,” Bartels explained. “Shooting under a subway was loud and chaotic, but it added so much energy to every scene.”

McCarthy agreed, noting that the immersive setting elevated the production. “The exteriors and interiors were all practical. You can’t replicate that kind of realism.”

The presence of David Schwimmer added another layer of excitement for the cast.

“He’s so grounding and calm,” Bartels said. “Knowing fans who grew up watching him will see him with us is surreal.” McCarthy added, “He’s generous with his time and insights. Watching him work was a masterclass.”

The new season of the Goosebumps anthology series amps up the scares but delves into heartfelt themes. “Expect the unexpected,” Bartels teased. “There are heartfelt relationships and interpersonal challenges that make it relatable.”

McCarthy echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the mix of extraordinary and ordinary challenges faced by the characters. “We wanted to honor longtime fans while also making something meaningful for new viewers.”

For fans of Goosebumps, the new season is a must-watch. With eight episodes now streaming, The Vanishing offers a blend of spooky nostalgia and fresh storytelling that will leave viewers hooked. As the mystery unfolds, expect haunting twists, eerie settings, and even a killer soundtrack — including a nod to System of a Down that’s bound to thrill fans.

The legacy of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps continues to grow with The Vanishing, proving that some stories are timeless. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, this season is sure to give you goosebumps.
