Netflix’s Haunted Hotel blends horror, comedy, and family drama.

Netflix will open the doors to Haunted Hotel on September 19, 2025. Created by Rick & Morty writer-producer Matt Roller, the new animated comedy will feature a mix of supernatural scares, sharp humor, and heartfelt family dynamics. The 10-episode, half-hour series follows a single mother of two struggling to run a haunted hotel with help from her estranged brother, who also happens to be one of the ghosts living there.

The cast includes Will Forte as Nathan, Eliza Coupe as Katherine, Skyler Gisondo as Ben, Natalie Palamides as Esther, and Jimmi Simpson as Abaddon.
From the Mind Behind Rick & Morty
Roller is known for his work on hit animated series like Rick & Morty. He promises a blend of quirky humor and supernatural chaos. “I can’t wait for everyone to meet the Freeling family and see how they tackle nightmare guests and ghosts in our beautifully animated hotel,” Roller said. “This is a show for fans of comedy, horror, horror comedy, families, hotels, cults, monsters with tentacles, monsters without tentacles, werewolves, and blenders.”
What to Expect
In Haunted Hotel, the Freeling family’s attempt to keep the business running is anything but ordinary. The guests are often ghosts themselves. The staff includes spectral personalities with unconventional ideas. The line between the living and the dead is blurry in hilarious and sometimes creepy ways. Haunted Hotel is likely to attract fans of quirky animated comedies with a supernatural element, joining the ranks of shows like What We Do in the Shadows and Disenchantment.
