Inspired by a jaw-dropping true story detailed in the Texas Monthly article penned by Skip Hollandsworth, “Hit Man” introduces us to a seemingly ordinary professor who stumbles upon an extraordinary talent – the art of impersonating a hit man. Played by the charismatic Glen Powell, our protagonist finds himself embroiled in a world of intrigue and danger as he delves deeper into his newfound profession.

Joining Powell on this wild ride are Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard, and Evan Holtzman, who each bring their unique flair to the ensemble cast. From heart-pounding action sequences to moments of genuine emotional depth, this film promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

The film explores the age-old fantasy of becoming someone else to escape life’s complexities.

As Glen Powell aptly puts it, “The fantasy of a Hit Man occupies a place in our brain because it feels like a simple solution to life’s complicated problems.” However, as director Richard Linklater emphasizes, the film delves deeper, exploring themes of identity, self-discovery, and the consequences of deception.

“It’s about identity and self and passion,” says Linklater. “But on a plot level, it’s just a guy who gets in a little too deep. His passions lead him in a direction where he’s deceiving someone he’s in love with, and being someone else. They have to deal with those repercussions.”
