Blumhouse thriller ‘House of Spoils’ brings culinary chaos to Fantastic Fest.

The upcoming thriller House of Spoils will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest on Saturday, September 21st. The film stars Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose. She takes on the role of an ambitious chef battling chaos both inside and outside the kitchen. This genre-bending thriller promises to deliver suspense and horror in equal measure, offering a fresh take on the haunted house narrative.

House of Spoils marks the second feature film from the writer-director duo Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy. They previously co-directed the critically acclaimed Blow the Man Down. Their collaboration has been praised for its unique storytelling and atmospheric tension, and House of Spoils appears to continue this trend. The storyline of House of Spoils revolves around the character of Chef, played by DeBose, who opens a restaurant on a remote estate. As she navigates the pressures of her new venture, she encounters not only the physical and psychological demands of the culinary world but also a haunting presence that seems intent on sabotaging her efforts. The film explores themes of ambition, self-doubt, and the supernatural, set against the backdrop of a high-stakes kitchen environment.
An ensemble cast supports DeBose.
It includes Barbie Ferreira, Arian Moayed, Amara Karan, Mikkel Bratt Silset, and Marton Csokas. Each actor brings a unique dynamic to the film, contributing to its tension-filled atmosphere. The film features the involvement of food stylist Zoe Hegedus. She is known for her work on films such as Midsommar, Poor Things, and both parts of Dune. Hegedus’s expertise in creating visually stunning and thematically resonant food scenes adds an extra layer of immersion to the film.

House of Spoils promises to be a gripping experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. As it debuts at Fantastic Fest, the film is sure to generate buzz within the horror and suspense genres.
