The Gentleman Thief puts Travolta back in crime-thriller mode.
John Travolta is stepping back into the world of high-stakes crime with The Gentleman Thief, a new crime thriller from Vertical.
Vertical has acquired North American rights to the film, which stars Travolta as master thief Mason Goddard. The movie is set for a digital and VOD release on July 28, 2026, followed by a limited theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
The ensemble cast also includes Lukas Haas, Rebecca De Mornay, Sam Asghari, Quavo, and DJ Khaled.
What Is The Gentleman Thief About?
In The Gentleman Thief, Mason Goddard is lured out of retirement for what appears to be one final job. His mission is to steal an invaluable painting during an international art auction. However, the heist quickly turns into something far more dangerous.
Mason soon discovers he has walked into a deadly trap created by a ruthless criminal kingpin who is out for revenge. To survive, he must pull off the most ingenious heist of his career while keeping his ragtag crew alive.
The film also adds a romantic twist to the crime story. Along the way, Mason finds a chance at true love, but only if he can make it to the getaway alive.
Where You Know The Cast From
Travolta leads the film after a career filled with iconic roles in films such as Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, Face/Off, Hairspray, and Savages. In The Gentleman Thief, he takes on the role of Mason Goddard, a retired thief forced back into a dangerous world.
Haas is best known for roles in Witness, The Revenant, Inception, and Mars Attacks! De Mornay is known for Risky Business, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Runaway Train, and Wedding Crashers.
Asghari, who appeared in Jackpot!, joins the ensemble alongside Quavo, who appeared in Savage Salvation. DJ Khaled, known globally for his music career, has also appeared in projects such as Pitch Perfect 3 and Bad Boys for Life.
Vertical Brings The Gentleman Thief To Audiences
Producer Randall Emmett shared excitement about working with Vertical again and bringing the film to audiences.
“We’re excited to be working with Vertical again to bring The Gentleman Thief to theaters later this month. We think audiences will have a great experience seeing John Travolta and this wonderful ensemble cast bring the story to life,” Emmett said.
With betrayal, revenge, romance, and one last impossible job at the center of the story, The Gentleman Thief is aiming to deliver a slick crime thriller led by Travolta and a recognizable ensemble cast.
The Gentleman Thief Release Date
The Gentleman Thief will be released on digital and VOD on July 28, 2026. The film will also receive a limited theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
