Ke Huy Quan to lead action thriller “Love Hurts,” out this February.

This Valentine’s Day, audiences will see Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan in a thrilling new role. He stars in Love Hurts. It is a high-octane action film from 87North. They are the producers behind Nobody, Violent Night, and Bullet Train. The film is set to hit theaters on February 7. This film marks Quan’s first major leading role after his celebrated performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Quan plays the role of Marvin Gable. He is a seemingly ordinary realtor in the Milwaukee suburbs. However, he has a dark past he’s been trying to leave behind. Marvin’s world is upended when he receives a crimson envelope. It is from his former partner-in-crime, Rose, played by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story). Rose, whom he once left for dead, has resurfaced, and she’s unhappy.
As Marvin is forced back into a violent world of hitmen, deception, and old vendettas, he must face the choices that continue to haunt him. With his brother Knuckles, portrayed by Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider), on his tail, Marvin must confront his past in a race for survival. Open houses turn into battlegrounds as the story unfolds into a visceral journey of wrath and revenge.
The film’s ensemble cast brings together an impressive mix of talent.
It includes former NFL star Marshawn Lynch (Bottoms), Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage), Lio Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love.), Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level), André Eriksen (Violent Night), and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings). The soundtrack is set to be as dynamic as the film’s explosive action, adding to its pulse-pounding pace.
Love Hurts is directed by JoJo Eusebio, a veteran stunt coordinator known for his work on blockbuster action films such as The Avengers and John Wick. Eusebio makes his directorial debut with this film. He brings his extensive experience in fight choreography. His expertise in stunt coordination is also highlighted. He previously served as second-unit director on Deadpool 2 and Birds of Prey.
Love Hurts promises to be thrilling, with 87North’s signature blend of stylish action and dark humor. Don’t miss the film when it hits theaters on February 7.
