The nominations include Best Picture, Best Director for Martin Scorsese, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert De Niro. Additionally, the film has received nominations for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Film Editing, and Best Cinematography. The movie has also made history with its Indigenous representation. It has earned nominations for Lead Actress Lily Gladstone, artist Robbie Robertson for Best Original Score, and Scott George for Best Original Song, “Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People).”
One of the most notable aspects of the film is Lily Gladstone’s historic win as the first Indigenous actress to receive Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama at the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards. It explores the Osage Nation’s immense wealth brought about by the oil boom. The narrative follows white interlopers who are greedy.
