“Kinds of Kindness” weaves three intricately interconnected narratives, each exploring the theme of agency and the quest for self-determination. The film follows a man thrust into a world where choice is a luxury as he endeavors to seize control of his own destiny. Meanwhile, a policeman grapples with the unsettling return of his wife, who emerges from a mysterious disappearance transformed in ways he cannot comprehend. Lastly, a determined woman embarks on a quest to locate an individual possessing a unique gift, destined to become a revered spiritual leader.
Yorgos Lanthimos has once again assembled a stellar cast.
The ensemble is led by the talented and Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone and also features Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. Their performances are sure to be a highlight of the film. Of particular note is Lanthimos’s reunion with two stars from his previous film, “Poor Things“—Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe. Their collaboration in “Poor Things” earned widespread acclaim and accolades, including four Oscars wins for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Makeup/Hairstyling, and a well-deserved Best Lead Actress nod for Emma Stone.
