Ryan Gosling, Mikey Day Are Beavis and Butthead In Latest SNL Skit

Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live.

Last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live was exceptional, with Barbie and Fall Guy star Ryan Gosling as the host. He delivered plenty of laughs, particularly in a skit with the audience rolling in laughter. The skit featured Gosling and cast member Mikey Day playing characters reminiscent of the iconic duo from “Beavis and Butt-Head.” In this uproarious sketch, Heidi Gardner portrayed a NewsNation journalist conducting a serious town hall discussion on artificial intelligence (A.I.), with Kenan Thompson playing the role of an MIT professor providing expert insight. However, the serious tone quickly unraveled as the attention shifted to two audience members. They both had an uncanny resemblance to Beavis and Butt-Head.

Gosling sported Beavis’ trademark flat-top blond hair, a blue T-shirt, and shorts. He stole the show as he and Day’s character disrupted the town hall with their attendance. Thompson’s character couldn’t help but notice the striking similarity, pointing out the Beavis doppelganger in the audience. As the Beavis and Butt-Head lookalikes were seated together, their infectious laughter filled the room, further derailing the serious discussion on A.I. Thompson’s character struggled to maintain composure as the animated characters came to life before his eyes, their unmistakable laughter echoing throughout the studio. With Ryan Gosling’s stellar comedic timing of the SNL cast, the Beavis and Butt-Head skit was a highlight of SNL which is a rarity these days.

“Beavis and Butt-Head” was created and voiced by Mike Judge and first premiered on MTV in 1993.

Its satirical take on teenage angst and pop culture quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The animated duo’s misadventures, characterized by their distinctive laughter and penchant for mischief, spawned a successful television series and a feature film titled “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.” Their enduring popularity has cemented their status as pop culture icons, making them a fitting subject for SNL’s comedic take on current affairs.
