“King of the Hill” is back and better than an Alamo.

After years away, the Hill family is returning to television screens—and Arlen, Texas. The King of the Hill revival officially premieres August 4, 2025, exclusively on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, bringing fresh laughs, heartfelt moments, and some perfectly grilled steaks back to fans who’ve missed the iconic animated series.
A Time Jump and a Fresh Start
The revival picks up years after the original series left off, reuniting viewers with Hank and Peggy Hill as they return from a long stint working a propane job in Saudi Arabia. With their retirement savings in hand, the couple heads back to a changed Arlen, ready to reconnect with familiar faces like Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill.
Meanwhile, Bobby Hill is no longer the awkward pre-teen we remember. Now in his 20s, Bobby is living out his culinary dreams in Dallas. As an up-and-coming chef, he’s still as unique and charming as ever, just with better knife skills. He’s often surrounded by his old classmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane, who are all navigating young adulthood in the Lone Star State.
A Return with Heart—and Propane
The new season promises the same blend of small-town sincerity and dry wit that made King of the Hill a cult classic. Longtime fans can expect subtle nods to the original series alongside updates that bring Arlen into the present day, without losing the show’s timeless, slow-burn humor.
Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, the original series ran from 1997 to 2009 and remains one of the most grounded and beloved animated sitcoms of all time. The upcoming episodes aim to keep that spirit alive while introducing a new generation to the world of the Hills.

Dale Gribble Recast Announcement
One of the biggest updates for the revival is the recasting of fan-favorite character Dale Gribble. He was originally voiced by the late Johnny Hardwick. At the ATX TV Festival, Hulu announced that Toby Huss—a veteran voice actor and King of the Hill alum—will now voice Dale. Hardwick had already recorded six episodes for Season 14 before his passing. The character’s love for conspiracies and oddball antics remains fully intact in the revival.
Fans at the ATX event got an exclusive sneak peek at the new season and hear directly from the creative minds and cast, including Judge, Daniels, Adlon, Tom, Patterson, and Huss.
Who Is Toby Huss?
Toby Huss, originally from Marshalltown, Iowa, is a veteran of both voice and live-action work. In addition to King of the Hill, he’s appeared in Seinfeld, Halt and Catch Fire, and films like Halloween and Copshop. He’s also a visual artist with a 2024 solo exhibit and a photography/poetry collection titled American Sugaristle.
Series Legacy
Set in fictional Arlen, Texas, the original series followed Hank Hill, an earnest propane salesman, his assertive wife Peggy, and their offbeat son Bobby. Their neighbors and friends, including Dale, Boomhauer, Bill, and others. They all helped shape a series that brought heartfelt humor and subtle commentary on everyday life.
The King of the Hill revival looks to pick up right where it left off—only with a few more wrinkles, deeper stories, and a whole lot of propane.
Stay tuned for more as we count down to the return of propane-fueled comedy gold.
