Disney’s Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Movie: Trailer Reveals New Look at the Classic

Disney has officially unveiled the trailer for its highly anticipated live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch. It is set to hit theaters exclusively on May 23, 2025. The film reimagines the beloved 2002 animated classic. It tells the story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and her mischievous alien companion, Stitch, as they form an unbreakable bond that helps mend her broken family.

Award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp directs it. He is best known for his Oscar-nominated animated feature Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Lilo & Stitch stars Maia Kealoha. She plays Lilo, the young girl struggling to find her place in the world. The film also features a talented cast, including Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, and Hannah Waddingham. Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch in the original animated film, returns, while Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis round out the ensemble.

Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes wrote the screenplay for the live-action remake. The film promises to deliver the original movie’s humor and heartfelt themes to a new generation. It focuses on the powerful message of ohana—family. In this family, nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
