Luis Guzmán on Havoc with Tom Hardy and His Return as Gomez in Wednesday Season 2

Luis Guzmán keeps it real across film, TV, and video games.

Veteran actor Luis Guzmán is stepping into the chaos with his latest role in Havoc. It is a high-octane action thriller arriving on Netflix April 25, directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid, Gangs of London). The film stars Tom Hardy as a detective fighting his way through the criminal underworld after a drug deal spirals out of control. Guzmán joins a loaded ensemble that includes Jessie Mei Li, Forest Whitaker, and Timothy Olyphant.

“Havoc is the kind of movie where you just turn off the world and go on this wild ride,” Guzmán told Nerdtropolis. “You’re watching Tom Hardy bring that signature intensity—he turns it on and you just ride that wave with him.”

Guzmán, who’s played countless unforgettable characters across film and TV, said his role choices still come down to passion and collaboration. “When I read a script, I ask myself: is this character worth my time and creativity?” he said. “Then I look at who’s directing, who I’m acting alongside—if it clicks, I’m in.”

The actor also opened up about his influences growing up. He credits martial arts legends like Bruce Lee and 1970s cult hero Billy Jack for shaping his idea of an on-screen badass. “Bruce was always true to his form—calm but powerful. That’s what I see in Tom Hardy too.”

A Return to Nevermore

While Havoc marks another gritty entry in Guzmán’s career, he’s also set to return as Gomez Addams in the highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s Wednesday. The gothic hit, led by Jenna Ortega, premieres Part 1 on Aug. 6 and Part 2 on Sept. 3.

“Stepping into Gomez’s shoes has been a blessing,” Guzmán said. “Working opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Jenna Ortega, and with Tim Burton—it’s a full-on dream team. I’m proud to be part of something this special.”

Guzmán praised the cast and creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar for crafting a series that mixes spooky fun with meaningful storytelling. “It’s a gift to be surrounded by such talent. Every day on set felt like we were making something that mattered.”

Legacy in Vice City

Guzmán also took a moment to reflect on his voice role as Ricardo Diaz in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, one of gaming’s most iconic franchises. While he’s honored to have been part of it, he didn’t shy away from pointing out how little compensation voice actors received at the time.

“Those games made billions, and none of us got residuals,” he said. “That’s something that needs to change. We helped build that legacy too.”

Despite the lack of royalties, Guzmán remembers the experience fondly—even if he never made it far in the game himself. “I got stabbed by two old ladies with umbrellas. My son had to help me get to level four just to see my own character,” he laughed.

From gritty thrillers to gothic comedies and groundbreaking video games, Guzmán continues to leave a lasting mark across genres. As Havoc gears up to hit Netflix, fans will soon see him back in action—and then back in black as Gomez.
