‘God of War’ adds Max Parker as Heimdall as casting expands.
Max Parker will portray Heimdall in Prime Video’s upcoming “God of War” series from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Heimdall, Watchman of Asgard and Odin’s son, is a god who can anticipate what will happen at any moment.
Max Parker gained international recognition for his breakout role as Sgt. Sullivan in Netflix’s military drama “Boots.” His other credits include “Vampire Academy,” “Emmerdale,” Netflix’s “Blood, Sex & Royalty,” and “Doctor Who.” Born and raised in Manchester, he trained at Arts Educational Schools in London.
Who is Heimdall?
In the series, Heimdall is described as handsome and dynamic. However, he feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by the rest of the family. As a result, he constantly seeks ways to raise his standing, enhance his stature, and expand his power.
The two-season adaptation, based on PlayStation’s popular mythology-themed video game, is in pre-production in Vancouver with casting underway. Previously announced cast members include Ryan Hurst as Kratos.
What ‘God of War’ Is About
“God of War” follows Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they journey to spread the ashes of Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye. Kratos tries to teach Atreus to be a better god, while Atreus teaches his father to be a better human.
This emotional push-and-pull has anchored the franchise. The series now aims to bring that bond to the screen through their shared mission.
Creative Team and Direction
Emmy Award-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye has signed on to direct the first two episodes. His credits include “Shōgun,” “The Boys,” and “Fallout.” Ronald D. Moore serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer.
“God of War” is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions, and Tall Ship Productions.
With pre-production and casting underway, Parker’s Heimdall brings another key Asgard player to the lineup.
