Inside the supernatural chaos of The Bondsman with Maxwell Jenkins.

Kevin Bacon’s latest venture into the supernatural, The Bondsman, is set to deliver a thrilling mix of horror, action, family drama, and even a touch of country music. The new Blumhouse Television series, premiering April 3, 2025, on Prime Video, follows Hub Halloran (Bacon), a murdered bounty hunter resurrected by the Devil to capture escaped demons. Along the way, he navigates the complexities of his estranged family and his own damned soul. I caught up with Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space, Arcadian), who stars alongside Bacon, to discuss the show’s unique blend of horror, family themes, and music—plus just how gory it really is.
The Gore Factor: “It’s an 11!”
Right from the start, The Bondsman delivers relentless, creatively executed horror. When asked to rate the show’s gore level on a scale from 1 to 10, Jenkins didn’t hesitate:
“11. And not just because of the scale of the gore, but also the creativity of the horror. My favorite moment? When Kevin’s fighting the demons in his workshop after being tortured by Lucky. He stabs a chainsaw through a demon’s head, and it lights on fire. That’s my go-to moment in this show.”

The Music and Family Ties
One of the show’s surprising elements is its emphasis on music, with both Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Nettles (The Righteous Gemstones) bringing their musical talents to the screen. Jenkins shared how their experience influenced his own performance:
“The music isn’t just there for entertainment; it’s what brings the family together in moments of crisis. It adds depth and emotion. Balancing music with acting can be tough, but having experienced musicians like Kevin and Jennifer made it feel natural.”

What Makes The Bondsman Special?
With a mix of action, horror, and music, The Bondsman has a lot to offer. But for Jenkins, the family drama at its core was the most rewarding aspect to explore:
“That’s why I love sci-fi and horror projects with strong family dynamics. You can hide really meaningful themes—like forgiveness and second chances—underneath the blood, demons, and action. The family element is what adds real stakes to everything.”

Maxwell Jenkins is no stranger to genre projects, but The Bondsman gave him a chance to work with legends and embrace the show’s unique mix of horror and heart. After watching it, I can confidently say fans are in for a wild ride.
The Bondsman premieres on April 3, 2025, on Prime Video. It also stars Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, and Jolene Purdy. Get ready for a supernatural bounty hunt like no other!
