The Life of Chuck follows Charles “Chuck” Krantz’s emotional and unexpected journey. It is told in a unique structure that moves backward through time. The film delves into themes of love, loss, and the profound beauty found in everyday life.
Tom Hiddleston stars as Chuck, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, and Mark Hamill rounding out the ensemble cast. The film is directed by Flanagan. He is known for previous King adaptations like Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, as well as Netflix hits The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass.
The film is based on the novella from King’s 2020 collection If It Bleeds. The story is an intimate, reflective meditation on the human experience. As Chuck’s life unfolds—beginning at the end and tracing back to his youth—the film challenges viewers to consider how much one life can truly mean.
