Monkey Man revolves around a young man named Kid, played by Patel. Kid navigates through the gritty underworld of an underground fight club. He endures nightly beatings from more popular fighters while wearing a gorilla mask to conceal his identity. He does this in pursuit of meager earnings. Still, his real motivation lies in his desire for retribution against the corrupt leaders who were responsible for his mother’s murder and the ongoing victimization of the helpless.

The legend of Hanuman, the iconic symbol of strength and courage, inspires the film.

Patel’s character embarks on a dangerous journey to infiltrate the sinister enclave of the city’s elite. Fueled by years of suppressed rage and childhood trauma, Kid’s mysteriously scarred hands become the instrument of justice in an explosive campaign to settle the score with those who robbed him of everything. Patel co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Angunawela and John Collee, the writer behind “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.” The screenplay promises a captivating and emotionally resonant narrative.
