My Hero Academia’s final season sets the stage for Deku vs. Shigaraki.

The battle for the world’s fate is reaching its climax as My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON is set to premiere this October on Crunchyroll. The highly anticipated eighth and final season of the blockbuster anime will stream worldwide, excluding Asia, with new episodes released weekly on the same day as Japan.
The announcement was made at AnimeJapan 2025 in Tokyo. Toho Co., Ltd. unveiled a new teaser trailer. The anime, based on Kohei Horikoshi’s bestselling manga, has captivated audiences since its debut. It chronicles the journey of Izuku Midoriya (Deku) and his classmates at U.A. High School as they train to become heroes in a world where 80% of the population has superpowers or Quirks.
Returning Talent and Production Team
Naomi Nakayama, who directed My Hero Academia Season 7, returns to helm the final season. Series composition is handled by Yosuke Kuroda (Trigun), who has been with the franchise since its inception. Animation is produced by the renowned BONES FILM studio. They are known for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Mob Psycho 100, and Bungo Stray Dogs.
Other returning production members include Chief Director Kenji Nagasaki, character designers Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Berserk [1997]), Hitomi Odashima, and composer Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!).
The Final Battle Begins
The last season will showcase the long-awaited showdown between Deku and Tomura Shigaraki, with the fate of the hero society hanging in the balance. As the story concludes, fans can expect high-stakes action, emotional character arcs, and a thrilling resolution to the saga that has spanned nearly a decade.

My Hero Academia first premiered in 2016 and has since become one of the most popular anime franchises worldwide. The manga concluded in August 2024, setting the stage for the anime’s final season to conclude the beloved story.
