Netflix Renews ‘Devil May Cry’ Anime for Second Season

More Demons Incoming: Devil May Cry anime is returning for Season 2.

Dante is grabbing his guns and revving up for more demon-slaying action. The streaming giant announced that Netflix officially renewed its anime adaptation of Devil May Cry for a second season.

The series is by showrunner Adi Shankar (Castlevania). The animated series is based on the popular Capcom video game franchise and brought to life by South Korea’s Studio Mir. They are behind The Legend of Korra and DOTA: Dragon’s Blood.

In this stylish and high-octane take on the beloved game, Dante — an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire — finds himself caught in a battle between realms. As sinister forces seek to tear open a portal between the human and demon worlds, Dante must unknowingly shoulder the fate of both.

Season one of Devil May Cry debuted to strong numbers. It racked up 5.3 million views in its first week and claimed the No. 4 spot globally on Netflix. The series broke into the Top 10 in 87 countries. It even boosted sales of the Devil May Cry games on Steam.

Devil May Cry proves that angst, attitude, and a stylish trench coat play well in every time zone,” Shankar said in a statement.

The voice cast includes Johnny Yong Bosch (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War) as Dante, Scout Taylor-Compton (The Runaways) as Mary, Hoon Lee (Banshee, Warrior) as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola (Beowulf) as Enzo, and the late Kevin Conroy as Vice President Baines.

No release date for Season 2 has been announced.
