Johnny Knoxville Announces New Jackass Movie as Franchise Heads Back to Theaters

Jackass is back in theaters on June 26 as Paramount sets a new movie.

A new “Jackass” movie is set to headline theaters across the country on June 26, with Paramount Pictures banking on another major wide release. The news broke through a social post shared by Johnny Knoxville and the franchise’s official account. The caption promised a summer return and teased more news soon.

“Well, a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer, ‘Jackass’ is back!! We will see you in theatres on June 26th. More to come, but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”

The new movie arrives four years after “Jackass Forever,” which hit theaters in 2022. Cast details remain the biggest question. However, Knoxville appears set to return in some capacity. He helped share the announcement himself.

Johnny Knoxville Stays Busy With Fear Factor

Knoxville also has a new TV gig. Fox tapped him to host “Fear Factor: The Next Chapter.” The reboot updates the format with a remote setting and a social strategy angle. Fox positioned Knoxville as the face of the new version.

The Origin Story

The franchise started as an MTV series built on stunts, pranks, and self-inflicted chaos. Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze, and Knoxville created the show. MTV aired the original run in the early 2000s. The series mixed skate-video energy with hidden-camera mayhem. It also sparked endless copycats.

The core cast became household names for doing what nobody should copy at home. Fans showed up for the laughs, but they also watched for the pain.

Key Cast Members Fans Associate With Jackass

The franchise’s main era featured a familiar crew. That group included Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey, Preston Lacy, and Jason “Wee Man” Acuña.

Over time, the movies expanded the circle. “Jackass Forever” added newer faces alongside returning veterans. The franchise also carries real losses. Ryan Dunn died in 2011, and later installments nodded to his legacy.

A Quick History of the Movies

After MTV, the crew took the act to theaters. Paramount released “Jackass: The Movie” in 2002.

The series grew into sequels, side projects, and bonus cuts. Here’s the fast roadmap.

Main Theatrical Films

  • “Jackass: The Movie” (2002)
  • “Jackass Number Two” (2006)
  • “Jackass 3D” (2010)
  • “Jackass Forever” (2022)

Notable Spin-Offs and Bonus Releases

  • “Jackass 2.5” and “Jackass 3.5” compiled unused footage and extra stunts.
  • “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” pushed the franchise into character-driven comedy.
  • “Jackass 4.5” arrived after “Jackass Forever” with more unused footage and behind-the-scenes moments.

Why the Franchise Still Works

Jackass never pretended to be polished. It sold commitment, friendship, and shock comedy. It also kept the stunts simple enough to feel real. That authenticity became the brand. The crew laughs first, then limps away later.

Now, the franchise plans another theatrical run. Paramount set the date. Knoxville set the tone.

The only question left is who shows up when the lights go down on June 26.
