A new Wicked trailer debuts with stunning visuals.
The magical world of Oz comes to life once again, but this time on the big screen. After two decades of enchanting audiences on stage, Wicked is finally making its highly anticipated film debut. It promises to be a vibrant and spellbinding experience. The new trailer has been released, giving fans a taste of the stunning visual spectacle that awaits.
In theaters on November 22, Wicked promises to be one of the most magical cinematic events of the holiday season. Directed by Jon M. Chu, known for his work on Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights, the film is the first chapter of a two-part series. Wicked Part Two is scheduled for release in November 2025.
The film is based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel, adapted from the beloved Broadway musical.
Wicked explores the untold story of the witches of Oz. It stars Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and Grammy-winning global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda. The film delves into the friendship between two young women who cross paths at Shiz University. Their bond is tested as they encounter the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, leading them down vastly different roads that shape their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The cast also includes a powerhouse lineup of talent. It includes Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as the charming Fiyero, and Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz. With fresh faces like Marissa Bode and seasoned actors like Peter Dinklage, the film is stacked with performances sure to capture the essence of this magical world.
