Saturday Night enlists young stars to play comedy legends.

Frozen Empire’s Jason Reitman Directs, who co-wrote it with Gil Kenan. The film explores the whirlwind behind creating a cultural phenomenon that began at 11:30 p.m. on October 11, 1975. The film is set to depict the 90 minutes before the debut of what would become one of the most influential television shows of all time.

Reitman, known for his work on films like Juno and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, takes the audience behind the curtain of SNL‘s frenetic beginnings. The trailer teases a blend of humor, high stakes, and the unpredictability that surrounded the show’s now-iconic premiere. Co-writer Kenan and Reitman weave together a script that recounts the pivotal moments and personalities that nearly prevented the groundbreaking show from ever seeing the light of day.
