Nichelle Nichols was a pioneering Star Trek star.
Nichelle Nichols, one of the actors in the original Star Trek series and its films, has passed away. She was 89. Her portrayal of Nyota Uhura gained her worldwide recognition. Nichols was one of the first Black woman to play a main cast role on a television series. Her son shared the sad announcement on her Facebook page below.
