Powerline in Concert: Disney Debuts Immersive VR Experience Featuring Iconic “I2I” Performance from A Goofy Movie

Powerline in Virtual Reality? Disney lets you join the concert from A Goofy Movie.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the beloved animated classic A Goofy Movie, Disney has launched a fully immersive virtual reality experience of the film’s iconic concert scene featuring Powerline’s hit song “I2I.”

The new experience reimagines the climactic sequence from the 1995 film.

It places fans directly on stage with Powerline—voiced by Grammy-nominated R&B artist Tevin Campbell—in front of a packed arena. It marks the first time viewers can witness the entire performance from Powerline’s perspective, offering a 360-degree view complete with dynamic visuals, reactive audio, and digital Easter eggs scattered throughout.

The concert scene has become a hallmark of Disney animation, remembered for its energetic music, heartfelt storyline, and vibrant visuals. Now, with modern VR technology and a faithful recreation of the film’s original animation style, Disney is giving audiences a new way to engage with a nostalgic favorite.

Instead of following the off-stage antics of Goofy and his son Max throughout the arena, the VR version showcases Powerline’s full “I2I” number uninterrupted. Fans can still spot key moments from the original film—including Goofy’s dance mishaps, Max’s entrance, and cameos by characters like Bigfoot—unfolding around them in immersive detail.

“‘I2I’ has become a pop culture anthem,” said a Disney spokesperson. “This experience honors that legacy while introducing a new generation to Powerline in a way only VR can.”

The song, which has racked up tens of millions of streams and sparked viral dance trends online, was also recently covered by pop-punk band Magnolia Park as part of Disney’s “A Whole New Sound” album. The VR video continues that legacy, blending nostalgia with modern tech to create a next-level musical showcase.

Key features of the experience include:

  • Immersive VR concert: A panoramic “theatre in the round” perspective of the entire “I2I” performance.
  • Fan-favorite characters: Appearances by Goofy, Max Goof, Powerline, Bigfoot, and more.
  • Easter eggs and surprises: Hidden nods to the original film with each viewing.
  • 360-degree audio: Directional sound design that adapts to viewer movements.
  • Visual innovation: Classic animation reimagined for a new medium.

The experience is available now on supported VR platforms, bringing fans of all ages closer than ever to one of Disney’s most electrifying animated moments.
