Marvel unveils prequel to Dan Trachtenberg’s upcoming sci-fi thriller, Predator: Badlands.

Marvel Comics has revealed the first look at Predator: Badlands #1, the official prelude comic to the highly anticipated film Predator: Badlands. Written by Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Bounty Hunters) and featuring art by Elvin Ching in his Marvel debut, the one-shot will arrive in comic shops on November 12, just days after the movie premieres in theaters on November 7.
A Cinematic and Comic Crossover
The issue is being produced in close collaboration with director Dan Trachtenberg, who also provides a foreword. Fans can preview never-before-seen interior artwork below.

“Badlands is the first Predator movie to draw inspiration so heavily from the comic books,” Trachtenberg said. “So it’s with great delight that you and I now get to look at splash pages, from the minds of Ethan and Elvin, of a formative adventure for our characters that serves as a perfect companion to the film. Dek kicking ass in his very own comic book is a dream come true.”
The Story of Dek
Set just before the events of the movie, the prequel introduces readers to Dek, a young Yautja warrior tasked by his father with recovering technology from a derelict spaceship. Inside, Dek encounters a deadly ancient threat that expands the lore of the Predator universe.

“For a writer who grew up a lifelong fan of the Predator franchise, there is no bigger game than the chance to hunt with the Yautja,” Sacks said. “Working hand in hand with the filmmakers behind Predator: Badlands, we made sure this prequel story fits into the cinematic saga like a puzzle piece. It’s going to give fans a deeper, richer experience – especially when they get to feast their eyes on Elvin Ching’s art.”
Expanding the Franchise
The new film stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. Set on a remote planet in the future, it follows Dek, a Predator outcast, and Thia, an unlikely ally, as they embark on a dangerous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. Predator: Badlands #1 continues Marvel’s push into the Yautja mythos, joining recent titles such as Predator: Black, White & Blood and Predator Kills the Marvel Universe.
Preorder Predator: Badlands #1 at your local comic shop now and catch Predator: Badlands in theaters November 7.
