A star-studded cast brings feral British cats to life in the six-episode series, Alley Cats.

Netflix announced a new series, Alley Cats. It is a brand-new original adult animated comedy series from Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning creator Ricky Gervais. The series is set to debut in 2026 and features an ensemble cast. The voice cast includes Gervais, as well as Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, Natalie Cassidy, and Tony Way. Each episode will run 15 minutes, with a total of six episodes in the first season.
A Bold, Feral Sitcom
Described as a “slacker sitcom,” Alley Cats follows a group of feral British cats navigating companionship and the quirks of everyday life. The show blends absurd comedy with heartfelt moments, carried by Gervais’ signature mix of humor and social commentary.
Produced in a bold 2D style by UK-based animation studio Blink Industries (Dead End: Paranormal Park, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared), the series marks a new step into adult animation for Gervais, known worldwide for The Office, Extras, and After Life.
Gervais on Playing a Cat

Creator and director Ricky Gervais quipped about his role: “I play a fat, lazy, rude, opinionated creature with fangs, who’s not as smart or brave as he thinks he is. So quite a stretch.”
The Creative Team
Alongside Gervais, Elliot Dear will co-direct. Executive producers include Gervais of Derek Productions and Steven Hamilton Shaw (Gnomeo & Juliet) of Shush Creative. Production design is led by Tang Heng (Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2).
What to Expect
With its eccentric characters, layered humor, and a cast filled with British comedy veterans, Alley Cats is expected to deliver the biting satire and social reflection that have defined much of Gervais’ career.
The series will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix in 2026.
