Middle-earth faces new perils in The Rings of Power Season 2.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary works, specifically “The Lord of the Rings” and its Appendices. The series brings the epic tales of Middle-earth’s Second Age to life, and a highly anticipated new season returns to Prime Video on August 29.

In this new chapter, the dark lord Sauron, who Galadriel cast out, is back. With no army or allies, Sauron must rely on his cunning to rebuild his power and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power—artifacts that will enable him to control all the peoples of Middle-earth. Building on the first season’s epic scope, Season Two delves deeper into a darker world, testing the resilience and resolve of its beloved characters. Elves, dwarves, orcs, men, wizards, and Harfoots all face increasing threats as friendships strain, kingdoms fracture, and the forces of good struggle to hold onto what matters most: each other.
This series transports viewers to the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth.
It is set thousands of years before the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.” As the story unfolds, viewers will witness the formation of alliances and the forging of powerful artifacts that shape the fate of Middle-earth. The intricate politics of Elven kingdoms, the enduring strength of Dwarven societies, and the growing resilience of Men all play a pivotal role in this season. Alongside breathtaking visuals and masterful storytelling, “The Rings of Power” delves into the characters’ inner struggles, exploring themes of power, corruption, and the enduring hope that drives them to defy overwhelming odds. Fans of Tolkien’s world can expect a captivating continuation of the saga, filled with unexpected twists and a deeper dive into the rich lore of Middle-earth.
