Mario returns to the big screen for a galactic adventure featuring fan-favorite Rosalina.

Illumination and Nintendo have revealed brand-new clips from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans their first look at Rosalina and Bowser Jr. in action. The film is the follow-up to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide and became a milestone for Nintendo’s growing film slate.
The new film is once again directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto return as producers, reinforcing the creative partnership that fueled the franchise’s first global hit. Universal Pictures and Nintendo will co-finance the film, with Universal handling the worldwide theatrical release.
Clip 1: Brie Larson as Rosalina
The first clip features Brie Larson as Rosalina, marking her debut in the Mario universe. Larson brings a calm yet commanding presence to the character, who remains one of the franchise’s most mysterious figures. The Oscar-winning actress is best known for her role as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and for her acclaimed performance in Room. Her take on Rosalina hints at both emotional depth and cosmic wonder, setting up a major role in the story ahead.
Clip 2: Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.
The second clip introduces Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., adding an energetic spark to Mario’s notorious pint-sized nemesis. Safdie, known for co-directing films such as Uncut Gems and for his acting work in titles like Oppenheimer and Good Time, brings a mischievous edge to the character.
A Returning All-Star Cast
The voice cast includes returning stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. Benny Safdie, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Brie Larson round out the lineup. Composer Brian Tyler also returns, continuing the musical style that anchored the 2023 film’s success. Watch the trailer!
