Shaun of the Dead Celebrates 20th Anniversary with 4K Steelbook Release

The cult classic Shaun of the Dead returns in stunning 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary today, Shaun of the Dead, the beloved zom-com is being re-released in a stunning 4K Ultra HD format. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, Focus Features, and Studiocanal have teamed up to bring fans a remastered version of the cult classic. It will feature Dolby Vision and immersive Dolby Atmos sound. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, the remastered version will be available on both digital and disc, including a limited-edition Steelbook. The re-release also includes a new, never-before-seen bonus feature in which Wright, alongside stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, reflect on the making of the film.

Shaun of the Dead, released in 2004, quickly earned its place as a fan favorite. It combines comedy, horror, and witty British humor. It is directed by Edgar Wright, who later helmed Baby Driver and Last Night in Soho. The film stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Kate Ashfield. The story follows slacker Shaun (Pegg) and his best friend Ed (Frost) as they attempt to navigate a zombie apocalypse with their signature laid-back attitude.

The remastered edition also includes a wealth of bonus content for die-hard fans. Highlights include the new featurette “Shaun of the Dead: 20 Bloody Years,” cast video diaries, alternate scenes, outtakes, and multiple commentary tracks featuring the cast and crew. With its clever blend of horror and comedy, Shaun of the Dead remains a genre-defining film. Fans now have the chance to revisit the hilarious and gory adventures of Shaun and Ed in this highly anticipated 4K remaster.

The new edition is available for pre-order now and will be available on Dec. 3, 2024, just in time for the holiday season.
