Simu Liu Joins Voice Cast of GREMLINS Prequel Series

John Glover will make his return to the GREMLINS franchise.

At the GREMLINS: THE WILD BATCH panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Max revealed exciting casting announcements for the second season of the hit animated prequel series. Among the highlights was the news that Simu Liu will join the main voice cast. Also, John Glover, the star of the “Gremlins” film sequel, will return to the franchise as a guest star. The new season is set to premiere on Thursday, October 3, on Max.

The new season takes place one year after the events of season one.

GREMLINS: THE WILD BATCH follows Gizmo, Sam, and Elle as they travel from their home in Shanghai to San Francisco. Season 2 will bring even more magic, mystery, and Mogwai mayhem. Our heroes journey deep into the American West on the trail of a new brood of evil Mogwai. They will encounter new supernatural creatures and pick up a few mysterious characters along the way.

Liu will play Chang. He is a handsome, impossibly charming bootlegger and the son of one of San Francisco Chinatown’s most powerful and influential families. His various escapades have led him to spend quite a bit of time in Alcatraz, so much so that his family believes he’s dead. After a twist of fate brings him together with Sam, Elle, and Gizmo, Chang will try to return to Chinatown while acting as the trio’s roguish guide to America.

Glover is best known in Gremlins lore for playing the role of eccentric billionaire Daniel Clamp in the film sequel, “Gremlins 2: The New Batch.” While few details were shared about the actor’s guest appearance in season two, executive producers Tze Chun and Brendan Hay hinted at the panel that audiences may get a peek into the Clamp family ancestry this season.

Additional guest voices for the season include Michael Paul Chan – another Amblin film alum known for playing Data’s father in “The Goonies.” Also part of the cast are Ronny Chieng, Keith David, Will Forte, Kelly Hu, and Jimmy O. Yang.

Gremlins: THE WILD BATCH continues to expand the beloved franchise, promising more adventures and a stellar cast to bring the story to life. With these new additions, the series will captivate audiences once again when it returns this fall.
