Season 2 of Squid Game features familiar faces.

Squid Game Season 2 is set to premiere on Dec. 26, 2024, bringing viewers back into the harrowing and suspenseful world that captivated audiences worldwide. The highly anticipated second season of the Korean drama will once again revolve around the deadly competition that forces its participants to wager their lives for a chance at a life-changing cash prize.

Season 1 introduced us to Seong Gi-hun played by Lee Jung-jae.
He is a down-on-his-luck man embroiled in the titular game, where the stakes are as high as the rewards. The first season’s gripping finale left fans on the edge of their seats. Season 2 promises to pick up the story three years after Gi-hun’s shocking decisions. According to the official synopsis, “Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”
Returning to the Squid Game cast are familiar faces Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. Alongside them, an impressive ensemble of newcomers will join the series. It includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an. Fans will be thrilled to learn that director Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed a third season is in the works. It is slated for release in 2025.
