Max unveils new images for Stephen King’s iconic Salem’s Lot.

New Line Cinema’s film adaptation of Stephen King‘s 1975 bestselling novel Salem’s Lot is set to debut this October on Max. The Max Original film reunites the producing teams behind two of the most successful horror franchises of all time: The Conjuring universe and the It films. Directed, written, and executive produced by Gary Dauberman, the movie is highly anticipated by both King fans and horror enthusiasts.

The film follows Ben Mears, portrayed by Lewis Pullman, an author who returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next novel. However, he finds a town under siege by a bloodthirsty vampire. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton, Bill Camp as Matthew Burke, Spencer Treat Clark as Mike Ryerson, Pilou Asbæk as Straker, and John Benjamin Hickey as Father Callahan.

With James Wan and Michael Clear producing for Atomic Monster, Roy Lee for Vertigo, and Mark Wolper attached as a producer, the film brings together a powerhouse of horror cinema talent. Given the success of these teams’ previous work, expectations are high for Salem’s Lot to become the next big hit in Stephen King adaptations.

This isn’t the first time it has been adapted for the screen.
The novel was initially brought to life in a 1979 miniseries directed by Tobe Hooper, which garnered a cult following and is regarded as one of the more faithful King adaptations. The novel was also adapted into a 2004 miniseries starring Rob Lowe.

The 2024 release continues the trend of King’s works becoming popular adaptations. Fans of King’s horror stories are eager to see how this version will compare to past adaptations and how Dauberman’s vision will bring new life to one of King’s earliest classics.
