Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Callina Liang and Jason Momoa lead the massive live-action adaptation of Capcom’s legendary fighting game franchise.
The fight is officially on. Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have launched the global World Warrior Tour for the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, kicking things off with a massive trailer event in Tokyo while also introducing a new way for fans to experience a movie trailer on YouTube.
The first full trailer debuted across the Shinjuku Yunika Vision screens in Tokyo, Japan, bringing several members of the movie’s cast and creative team together to begin the worldwide promotional tour.
Stars Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang and Jason Momoa appeared alongside Japanese cast member Hirooki Goto, Japanese voice talent Eiko Kano, director Kitao Sakurai and Street Fighter game director Takayuki Nakayama.
But Paramount and Legendary did not stop with a traditional trailer premiere.
Street Fighter Debuts a Playable Movie Trailer
In conjunction with the Tokyo launch, Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment debuted what the studios are calling the first playable full-length movie trailer on YouTube.
Rather than simply watching the footage from beginning to end, fans are invited to essentially fight their way through the Street Fighter trailer while watching it.
It is a fitting promotional idea for one of gaming’s most influential fighting franchises, turning the marketing itself into something inspired by the interactive experience that made Street Fighter a global phenomenon.
The new footage offers audiences their latest look at the movie’s enormous roster of recognizable fighters, including Ryu, Ken Masters, Chun-Li, Akuma, M. Bison, Guile, Dhalsim, Vega, Zangief, E. Honda, Balrog and Blanka.
The World Warrior Tour name also pulls directly from the franchise’s history, including the classic Street Fighter II era that helped transform the series into an arcade and home-console powerhouse.
Street Fighter Takes the Fight Back to 1993
The new Street Fighter movie is set in 1993, placing the story during one of the most important periods in the history of the video game franchise.
The film follows estranged Street Fighters Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo.
The two fighters find themselves pulled back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them to participate in the next World Warrior Tournament.
What initially appears to be a brutal competition involving some of the world’s greatest fighters soon reveals something much more dangerous.
Behind the tournament is a deadly conspiracy that forces Ryu and Ken to confront not only powerful opponents but each other, along with unresolved demons from their past.
Director Kitao Sakurai is bringing Capcom’s world back to theaters with a movie designed to embrace the elements fans associate with Street Fighter, from Hadoukens and roundhouse kicks to its massive lineup of colorful combatants.
Street Fighter Cast Brings Together Hollywood, WWE and UFC Stars
Perhaps the wildest part of the new Street Fighter adaptation is its cast.
Andrew Koji stars as Ryu, while Noah Centineo plays Ken Masters and Callina Liang takes on the role of Chun-Li.
The movie also brings several major professional wrestling names into Capcom’s universe.
WWE superstar Roman Reigns, credited under his real name Joe Anoa’i, plays Akuma, while Cody Rhodes steps into the role of Guile.
The cast gets even more unexpected from there.
David Dastmalchian plays the villainous M. Bison, while comedian Andrew Schulz portrays Dan Hibiki and Eric André plays Don Sauvage.
Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal becomes Dhalsim, musician Orville Peck portrays Vega, and bodybuilder and actor Olivier Richters takes on the towering role of Zangief.
Hirooki Goto plays E. Honda, while martial artist Rayna Vallandingham portrays Juli.
Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski appears as Joe.
Then there are two of the movie’s biggest casting swings.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson plays heavyweight boxer Balrog, while Jason Momoa transforms into fan-favorite fighter Blanka.
With characters pulled from across decades of Street Fighter history, the movie appears determined to make its first installment feel like a full-scale celebration of Capcom’s fighting universe.
A New Live-Action Shot for Street Fighter
Hollywood has attempted to bring Street Fighter to the big screen before, most famously with the 1994 movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Raul Julia as M. Bison.
A second theatrical live-action adaptation, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, followed in 2009.
The upcoming film gives the franchise another opportunity to translate the fast, colorful, and often larger-than-life energy of the games into live action.
This time, Capcom is directly involved alongside Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures, with Street Fighter game director Takayuki Nakayama also serving as a producer.
Sakurai directs from a screenplay by T.J. Fixman and Sakurai, based on a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman.
The movie arrives as video game adaptations continue to become major theatrical and television properties, and Street Fighter brings one of gaming’s most recognizable brands back into that increasingly competitive arena.
Fans will find out who reaches the final round when Street Fighter hits theaters October 16, 2026.
