Superman: Legacy film title has been changed to “Superman.”
On this special Leap Day, comic book enthusiasts worldwide are donning their capes and celebrating the birth of the Man of Steel himself, Superman. February 29th, once a mere anomaly in the calendar, has been immortalized as Superman’s birthday. That is thanks to its declaration in World’s Finest Comics #164 in 1966. But today’s festivities carry an extra punch as fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming DCU film simply titled “Superman,” slated for release on July 11th. The excitement reached new heights as director James Gunn revealed a sneak peek at the suit actor David Corenswet will don to embody the iconic superhero.
Corenswet steps into the formidable shoes of Clark Kent.
He is known for his roles in “The Politician” and “Hollywood.” Alongside him is Rachel Brosnahan as the intrepid journalist and Superman’s love interest, Lois Lane. She is known for her role in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” The star-studded cast doesn’t end there. Nicholas Hoult will portray the nefarious genius Lex Luthor, while Nathan Fillion suits up as the fearless Green Lantern. Isabela Merced brings the wings to the team as Hawkgirl, while Edi Gathegi takes on the role of the brilliant inventor Mister Terrific. Anthony Carrigan rounds out the ensemble as the shapeshifting hero Metamorpho.
As fans eagerly await the cinematic spectacle, the significance of Superman’s birthday is worth noting. While the character’s fictional birthplace of Krypton is well-known, his earthly origins are equally iconic. As the story goes, Jonathan and Martha Kent discovered Clark Kent on June 18th. That is the day they stumbled upon his rocket amidst the sprawling fields of their Kansas farm. Superman’s journey from the pages of comic books to the silver screen has captivated audiences for generations.
