Sydney Scotia Talks Our Holiday Story, Christmas Traditions, and Reboot: The Guardian Code

Sydney Scotia shares Christmas traditions and behind-the-scenes tales of Our Holiday Story.

Sydney Scotia, known for her captivating performances and bubbly personality, spoke to me about her latest Hallmark movie, Our Holiday Story. The film, a heartwarming tale of love, fate, and festive magic, is already earning praise for its charming storyline and cast. We also explored Sydney’s holiday favorites. We discussed her experience as part of Reboot: The Guardian Code. It is a continuation of the beloved 90s series.

On Joining the Hallmark Family with Our Holiday Story

Sydney was thrilled to be part of a Hallmark holiday movie, a dream she’s cherished for years. Reflecting on the film’s debut, she shared: “It feels so great because I was able to share this with my family and watch it at home with them and family friends. Just to be part of a holiday movie was something that I really was so wanting for so long.”

The movie intertwines two love stories: Dave and Nell’s past romance and the present-day relationship of Jo and Chris. Sydney plays Jo, navigating her own challenges alongside Gavin Langelo’s Chris. One memorable scene for Sydney involved decorating gingerbread houses, where an icing fight hilariously went awry. “I love scenes like that that seem so fun at the beginning, but then they’re just extremely awkward by the end,” she said with a laugh.

Christmas Traditions and Festive Vibes

When it comes to the holiday season, Sydney embraces the spirit of the festivities. Although she currently lives in Manhattan—where storage is limited—she’s all about visiting her parents for a cozy holiday experience. “There’s Christmas markets already. Bryant Park is open. So I’m in the holiday spirit, but I don’t have a tree because, you know, the closet space is a commodity,” she joked.

Fruitcake plays a significant role in Our Holiday Story, though Sydney confessed she’s never tried it. “When you’re on set, you want to eat the things,” she explained, recounting a humorous moment involving bug spray-covered Smarties meant as props. “That was the learning moment: not to eat the prop food.”

A Dive Into the Cyber World: Reboot: The Guardian Code

For fans of the iconic 90s series Reboot, Sydney’s role in The Guardian Code was a nostalgic treat. She revealed that her brother was a huge fan of the original, inspiring her to watch the entire series before filming. “It was really fun to feel a little bit like a superhero,” she said, describing the high-tech, action-packed set.

The series mixed human and virtual storylines, bridging the gap between old and new audiences. “Having Bob, Dot, Enzo, and Hexadecimal come back… I was just so happy they did that,” she added, acknowledging the pressure of doing justice to such a beloved series.

Holiday Rapid Fire with Sydney

To wrap up our chat, we played a fun rapid-fire holiday Q&A:

  • Favorite holiday song? Santa, Tell Me by Ariana Grande
  • Holiday movie you can’t miss? The Holiday
  • Best holiday treat? Williams-Sonoma’s Peppermint Bark
  • Snow or sunshine for the holidays? Snow
  • Favorite holiday scent? Balsam fir
  • Go-to holiday drink? Hot chocolate

Sydney’s love for the holidays shines through in her work and personality, making her a perfect fit for festive films like Our Holiday Story. As Hallmark continues its marathon of holiday magic, you can catch Sydney’s heartfelt performance alongside a stellar cast. And for fans of Reboot, her portrayal in The Guardian Code remains a nostalgic nod to a groundbreaking series.

As Sydney said herself, “I’m grateful to be a part of it,” and we’re grateful for her contributions to both the holiday and sci-fi worlds. Stay tuned for more from rising star Sydney Scotia, hopefully with more holiday films in the future!
