Terminator: Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Judgement Day.

In an unexpected twist for moviegoers, the team responsible for Terminator: Dark Fate treated fans to a surprise Terminator 2: Judgment Day surprise screening at Alamo Drafthouse for a nominal fee of $5. It was initially set to be accompanied by 20 minutes of Dark Fate footage. However, the audience was pleasantly surprised when actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, appearing on the big screen just as the film was about to commence, announced a change of plans. Rather than T2, viewers were treated to the entirety of Terminator: Dark Fate. Anticipating this surprise, I eagerly brought my father along, continuing our tradition of watching Terminator movies together since T3: Rise of the Machines.
In Mexico City, a newly modified liquid Terminator, the Rev-9 model, arrives from the future to eliminate a young factory worker named Dani Ramos. Grace, a hybrid cyborg human, is also sent back in time to protect Ramos from the seemingly indestructible robotic assassin. With unexpected assistance from seasoned warrior Sarah Connor and the T-800 Terminator, the two women face a formidable threat.
The beginning of Terminator: Dark Fate features a poignant scene.
It features Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, establishing a direct continuation of Judgment Day and evoking a strong emotional response. The movie swiftly transitions to action, introducing Dani Ramos (Natalie Reyes) and the time-traveling entrances of the Rev 9 (Gabriel Luna) and Dani’s protector, Grace (Mackenzie Davis). The audience eagerly anticipates the entrance of Sarah Connor, who receives a rousing round of applause.
I was thrilled to learn that this Terminator installment carries an R rating. It is the first since Rise of the Machines. I was prepared for a film packed with explicit language and intense action scenes courtesy of director Tim Miller, known for his work on Deadpool. However, the overall experience was tempered by some disappointing low-quality CGI renderings throughout the movie. It was a letdown considering technological advancements today.
In a surprising revelation, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator character is named Carl. The film sees Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the T-800 unit. However, it offers a twist that extends beyond a brief cameo appearance. Arnold is fully suited up and ready to engage in the intense action, with memorable interactions between Sarah Connor and the T-800. The cast, including Mackenzie Davis, delivers commendable performances, contributing standout moments throughout the film.
Verdict:
I give Terminator: Dark Fate earns 4 out of 5 stars. The on-screen reunion of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton justifies the ticket cost. While the prospect of a sequel remains uncertain, I am satisfied with how the story concludes. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
