“Goonies Never Say Die!” LEGO unveils The Goonies set featuring Ke Huy Quan’s nostalgic return.
The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, has revealed LEGO Ideas The Goonies—a 2,912-piece diorama. It has been designed to let fans relive the beloved 1985 treasure-hunting adventure in brick form.
To mark the release, Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan reunites with the franchise in a mini-film tribute that celebrates his role as Data, the gadget-loving member of the Goonies gang. In the short film, Quan guides viewers through the detailed set, highlighting secret traps and easter eggs while sharing personal memories from the original film.
“Revisiting Data after all these years—but this time in LEGO form—has been such a joyful experience,” said Quan. “The Goonies was all about heart, adventure, and friendship, and this set captures that spirit in fantastic detail.”
A Treasure Chest of Iconic Scenes
The diorama recreates several key locations from The Goonies, including the Fratellis’ hideout, twisting cave tunnels, and One-Eyed Willy’s treasure-filled ship. Builders can even flip the model to reveal the wreckage of the Inferno pirate ship in stunning detail.
The set includes 12 minifigures, featuring Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Andy, and Data. LEGO designed new pieces for Sloth’s pirate hat and bandana, and Mama Fratelli’s hair and beret. Fans can also trigger booby traps, drop boulders, and even play the Skeleton Organ—just be sure to hit the right notes or risk disaster.
Among the nods to the film’s lore are Data’s gadget belt, Mouth’s hairbrush, and a playful reference to the deleted octopus scene.
From Fan Design to Official LEGO Set
The set originated through the LEGO Ideas platform, where fans submit and vote on potential products. Greece-based 3D artist Vaggelis Ntezes, known online as Delusion Brick, designed The Goonies model that ultimately captured LEGO’s attention.
His final design merges the Inferno ship with the caves and booby traps. Ntezes created a detailed display piece that doubles as a hands-on play experience.
Release Details and Exclusive Bonuses
LEGO Ideas The Goonies set (21363) will be available here for LEGO Insiders starting November 1. The general public will be able to snag one on November 4, priced at $309.99 in the U.S.
Fans can further personalize their treasure-hunting crews at LEGO Stores using the Minifigure Factory, l featuring exclusive Goonies-themed torsos for a limited time. Purchases made between November 1–7 include The Goonies: The Walsh’s Attic (40773) as a gift-with-purchase while supplies last.
