Star-studded villain line-up announced for ‘The King of Kings.’

Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley, beloved James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill form the ultimate vocal rogues’ gallery in Mofac Animation’s upcoming film The King of Kings. This animated family movie draws inspiration from a lesser-known Charles Dickens short story about the life and times of Jesus Christ. Mofac Animation is currently seeking domestic and international distributors for the film, which is in its final production stages. The film is expected to be released around Easter 2025.

Kingsley will voice High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over Jesus’ trial. Hamill takes on the role of King Herod, known for ordering the Massacre of the Innocents to kill baby Jesus, and Brosnan voices Pontius Pilate, who ordered Jesus’ crucifixion. This trio of villains enhances an already star-studded cast, including Kenneth Branagh, Forest Whitaker, Oscar Isaac, Uma Thurman, and Roman Griffin Davis.

In the story, Charles and Walter Dickens embark on a multidimensional adventure as Charles Dickens weaves the tale of Jesus’ life, trials, and tribulations for his young son. The vivid animation allows the Dickens family, including their cat Willa, to interact with Jesus, his disciples, and his adversaries. The stellar voice cast breathes life into these historical figures, making the biblical story relatable and engaging for families, particularly children. Directed by Seong-ho “Jay” Jang and co-written by Jang and Rob Edwards, The King of Kings promises to be a visually stunning and narratively compelling addition to the realm of faith-based family films.
