It also comes with a bonus Blu-ray disc with exclusive extras and an elusive VHS release of the cult classic, which will be housed in a custom-designed box resembling a chainsaw. The set promises an immersive experience complete with iconic sounds from the film upon opening. You can grab a copy of the non-collectors edition here.
Fans can also look forward to special appearances and fan panels at conventions nationwide.
It includes a Chainsaw reunion with a dozen guests at May’s Texas Frightmare Weekend. The film will premiere in August at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Screenings will also happen nationwide, including major events in Los Angeles and Chicago. ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ captivated audiences with its spine-tingling premise long before the era of “found footage” sensations. The film introduced audiences to the harrowing ordeal of a group of youths falling prey to a deranged family in a desolate farmhouse. Leatherface, the masked menace armed with a lethal chainsaw, became an enduring symbol of terror. This film laid the groundwork for the slasher genre’s tropes.
As ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ commemorates its 50th anniversary, its legacy is a cornerstone of horror cinema, continuing to terrify and captivate audiences across generations. From the heartland of Texas to the hallowed halls of museums, the saga of Leatherface etches its mark on the collective psyche, a testament to the enduring power of cinematic fear.
