Liam Hemsworth takes on the role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher.

Netflix has released the first look at The Witcher Season 4. The new footage gives fans their first extended glimpse of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. Hemsworth officially takes over the role from Henry Cavill, who led the series for its first three seasons. The upcoming season, set to debut Oct. 30, is being filmed back-to-back with a fifth and final season. Together, the two seasons will adapt the last three books in Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
First Look at Hemsworth as Geralt
The new footage shows Hemsworth sporting Geralt’s iconic medallion as he treks through bleak landscapes before squaring off against unseen threats. Viewers also get a taste of him in action, slaying monsters with Geralt’s trademark grit.

Season 4 will fully establish Hemsworth’s version of the character while pushing the story into darker, more emotional territory.
Where Season 3 Left Off
The third season ended with the Continent fractured by war and Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer separated once again.
Geralt (played at the time by Cavill) was left recovering from his brutal defeat at the hands of Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu). Determined to rescue Ciri, he set out with Jaskier (Joey Batey) and newcomer Milva (Meng’er Zhang).
Meanwhile, Ciri (Freya Allan) wound up in the Korath Desert, where she struggled with her powers and eventually joined a rogue group known as the Rats, adopting the name Falka. Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), devastated by the death of her mentor Tissaia, stepped up as the new leader of Aretuza.
New Characters and Additions
Season 4 introduces several fan-favorite characters from the books and games. Laurence Fishburne joins as Regis, a mysterious barber-surgeon who becomes a key ally to Geralt.
Other additions include Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Leo Bonhart, a feared bounty hunter; James Purefoy (The Following) as Skellen, a royal advisor and spy; and Danny Woodburn (Watchmen) as Zoltan, the beloved dwarf companion.
What to Expect in Season 4
According to Netflix, the story will focus on Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri navigating the fallout of Season 3’s chaos. As war rages and enemies multiply, they will be forced to rely on new alliances and “found families” in hopes of reuniting.
